The Launch of a Dream

The Launch of a Dream

Every once in a while, you have a dream. The kind you don't speak out loud because it's a little scary. You're afraid if it crosses your lips, it'll be too big. People will look at you like you're plain crazy. We're talking the kind of dream that you hesitate to say aloud.

Then maybe one day you roundup the courage to whisper it under your breath. You murmur, "God, here's my dream. Take it and do what you like. Remove my own desire until it's only Yours."

Then He does.

He takes it. He grows it. He opens doors. He leads you through them. He astounds you at every turn. And you get to see that whispered dream come to life right in front of your unbelieving eyes.

You guys, on Tuesday, I got to see this happen.

Almost two years ago I attended the Writer's Boot Camp with Margaret Feinberg and Jonathan Merritt, an experience that challenged me to work on the craft of writing. A challenge I needed in multiple ways.

Just a year ago I attended Carol Kent's Speak Up Conference for speakers and writers with a whispered dream in my heart to have a book published. The Bible study I had the beautiful opportunity to write and teach burned in my own heart. I longed to see the message in front of more people as they lost the shackles of shame once and for all.

I met a remarkable acquisitions editor, Judy Dunagan, who saw something in that message. She championed the work and brought me to Moody Publishing. Her graceful guidance, along with a host of other enormously talented editors, graphic designers, and writers, brought this whispered dream to vibrant life.

Tuesday evening we had the pleasure of joining many of our friends to celebrate the life of this dream--our main goal to give glory to the One who gave it in the first place. We laughed. We worshiped. We heard stories from people who have been changed. And we prayed. We prayed for God to go before all of this and do the work only He can do.

Thank you.

Thank you for your prayers. For your participation in my whispered dream. For believing in this message enough to share it with others. Thank you for telling your story so others can be changed. Thank you for choosing vulnerability and courage in a world where it's hard to embrace honesty at times.

My prayer for you is that you will roundup the courage to allow your whispered dream to cross your lips. I can't wait to see what God decides to do when that happens. He is in the business of doing crazy things for His Name's sake.

You can order Laura's new Bible study "I Am Found: Quitting the Game of Hide and Seek" at Moody Publishers Women or Amazon

What's your whispered dream? What crazy thing do you pray God does through you?

I'm praying you have the courage to speak it out loud.
