Friends and Armor

Friends and Armor

There was a time, many years ago when my heart ached for friendship. I knew a lot of people, but it just didn't seem like any of them really knew me. I'm fairly certain my own shame kept me from allowing anyone to really get to know me well. I remember watching Grey's Anatomy when Meredith declared Cristina, "her person," feeling lost without my own "person."

Have you ever felt like this before? Wondering if you would ever really be known by anyone? If you would belong--really belong--somewhere?

Well, I can tell you that after many years of prayer and many more moments of courageous and more vulnerable living, God granted me a tribe of friends who are my people. They know me. And they love me anyway. They literally love me the way Jesus does. As is, but enough to challenge me to move beyond where I am, all the while cheering for me and giving me grace for the journey. It's been a beautiful answer to prayer. It didn't happen overnight, but because of God's grace and moment after moment of reciprocated honest authenticity.

What I love the most? As I continue to be more comfortable in my own story, shedding shame and courageously showing up, God continues to make deeper connections with new people for me as well.

I believe the more God heals us, the deeper our relationships can become.

That's why our first giveaway is a "friend" package. We were never meant to walk this life alone. I believe going through the I Am Found study will strengthen your friendship. Anytime we share our stories and shed shame, especially alongside others, something remarkable happens in our relationships.

Here's what we're giving away...

2 copies of the newly released "I Am Found" Bible study. One for you and one for a friend. ($26 value)

2 "I Am Found" necklaces from The Lemondime ($44 value)

I'm thrilled that we will be offering necklaces (and later on some other fun things, too!) from The Lemondime. My beautiful friend, Kellie Nowacki, handcrafts these amazing pieces of jewelry (and many others just like them) over on her site. (Check out my Author page on FB or my Instagram for information to order by August 1st).

Here's what I know about them. They are a part of my "armor" now. I love that she's created these for us because in week 2 of the study, we discuss Ephesians 6--the armor that helps us defeat our enemy.

My very first piece from Kellie said, "You make me brave."

Every single time I would put that necklace around my neck, something would happen in my soul. It was a season when I needed courage to step into all God was asking me to do. Some days I couldn't do it. But wearing this helped. When I put it on, I remembered. I believed that God was with me. I lived differently as a result. I believed God made me brave and I acted like it. It became a piece of my battle armor against the enemy.

My prayer is these necklaces would become a piece of armor for all of us. I hope that when we put them on, we remember whose we are. That we feel the presence and power of our God at work within us. That we know we belong to Him without reservation or argument. That we believe we are enough and come out of hiding as a result.

I'm also praying for you as you walk in vulnerability with your friends--new and old. I'm praying for deep connections without shame and without fear. What a gift our friends are!

You can order one of our necklaces from @thelemondime through August 1st. After August 1st a limited quantity will be available on the website store.

I am still waiting to see who the Lord sends to me now to be this person for me. I know in the past I have had people who have spurred me on and pointed me in the right direction: Lynda, Janet and Debbie. Godly women who encouraged and challenged me to be what God made me to be. So thankful for the way they spoke into my life!
